UIDAI allows cardholders with Aadhaar cardsto change their address, without needing documents. Aadhaar cardholders could change their address, if they could not prove documents proving their identity.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily stopped a crucial feature that allows you to change your Aadhaar card's address without identification document.

UIDAI permits holders of Aadhaar cards to change their address without the need for the need for documentation. Aadhaar cardholders are able to change their address only if they consent to the authentication for the verification of address. A verifier of address could be a relative, friend landlord, family member or even a friend who allows the Aadhaar card holder to use their address to prove their identity.

UIDAI has now halted this feature. UIDAI provided a response to an Card owner via Twitter, stating that the option to update address on Aadhaar Card via Address Validation Letter has been removed. UIDAI has asked the Aadhaar issuer to advise users that they are able to change their address using a acceptable PoA document.

Dear Resident Dear Resident: The service for the Address Validation Letter service has been discontinued until further notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
